@unknownsystemerror never said they were currently planning to go to console. Just pointing out that consoles can run and have been currently able to run MMORPG'S based on tech specs. Who knows what Intrepid plans in 4 years. No new xbox or ps6 until 2028. Most games are developed around a standardisation in terms of performance for sales which implies the standard for the next four years is basically what we see now.

But see, you may not have said it, but you implied it. It reads as "I think Intrepid will design for consoles down the line since everyone else is." As we have been told this is not the case, it's silly to second guess.

I will be honest after the last live... The graphics look good... For a 2015 game, not for nowadays MMO standards... I've recently played Throne and Liberty which was also made on Unreal 5 and looks 100% better in general design, environment, player skills, physics, animations and gear design compared to Ashes of Creation which is now also being made on Unreal 5... (And I know it's still on alpha)
And I'm not trying to be negative or anything because I hope the game is a success, and I'm really excited to play the alpha 2, and I know not everything is about graphics... But... I see myself getting more interested in high-quality graphics with this new generation of games coming out from Unreal 5 since it's very ''realistic'' and beautiful compared to the previous generation... Like Chrono Odyssey, Archeage 2, Throne, and Liberty... The reason I'm still hyped about Ashes is due to the node system, caravan, ocean... Something I didn't find on those games (excluding Archeage 2 which is still to be released) Well, take your own conclusions, check for example throne and Liberty gameplay

Anyway, the game is still on Alpha, obviously, there's a lot to change but I really hope intrepid hires some good game designers, who can compete with the Korean gaming market... Because when it's about game design, graphics, they are the best (excluding monetization haha)

You can't say they have good game design while excluding monetization as that is built into their design. Their game design is debatable.

Also AoC and other games are trying to do two different things both will have some form of limitation\. Seasons for example will be cool but at the cost of some more generic looking elements.

AoC art is on the right track and will be where it needs to be on release, and ill always agree great animations are important though.

To be fair, Throne and Liberty doesn't have defined "seasons" in the game but it does have variable weather that changes the game world and what content is available/accessible. It also interacts with your skills and even the wind direction and speed in-game affects certain skills

There are no design choices that have to be made specifically for consoles that will change how the game works though. The only differences will be controller specific UI and controls. If AoC is successful I fully expect a console release not too long after the full release on PC

They don't need to be "specific for console" to affect viability on consoles. Just having a normal mmo spread of abilities and utilities makes it a bad fit. Obviously not unplayable, just not what most people will be willing to do compared to what they're used to.

not really. FFXIV works perfectly fine and has dozens of skills and abilities for each class

AoC has weather as well to but that is not the main point at what I was getting at.

Since they have their tool to effect seasons with different parameters it isn't going to be hand crafted winter, fall, summer, spring. It will be adjusted based on the took and the parameters within the tool. Because it isn't had crafted there will be a certain generic feeling to it.

Until AI becomes more powerful and can start doing more work in games.
