Hips are the Level 25 Passive.

The state of the visual aesthetics in Ashes is one of it's greatest weakness.

The proportions and aesthetics from lineage 2 look 1000x better and that game is over 20 years old at this point.

The character creator won't even let you make a remotely attractive character.

If by some miracle you pull something likable off in the character creator. It doesn't look the same once you get in the game world. I have tested it with nearly every gfx setting. Shit is getting changed.

Yes, yes, this is all alpha 2 place holder...

Also yes, Intrepid needs to know that what is currently in place is actually amongst the absolute worst player character visuals in the industry.

Ashes should not be the worst in the industry at anything with the amount of passion in the project.

And that doesn't even include the non-combat animations. Fights are fine, everything is looking and feeling great, but running or standing idly are terrible.

The above btw is my Bard, and now she also has a belt, so it looks even worse!

I seriously hope they'll work on this. Faces, bodies (the chest slider resizes your ribcage, LOL) and animations all are in dire need of work.

Thankfully, art and server tech are most likely different teams, so there's hope.

They're afraid of criticism a la "objectifying women". So just do it like FFXIV, and make males equally hot and objectified. If everyone's "objectified", then nobody is.

I don't want to jump into that conspiracy theory as tempting as it is.

I will say that the direction Baldur's Gate 3 choose in the current western games market can not be praised enough.

I would like for Ashes to be in a position where it visually can not be praised enough.

That's also gonna quell the "Ashes looks generic" cries. Characters and racial architecture will make this game distinguishable - if Intrepid chooses to work on them.

Its not just female issue-Kaelar males are disproportioned too. Either hips are not wide enough or ribcage is too big for male models... Can't tell which one is it...

I hope they're not done yet with the character models. Didn't they update the Maori dwarves, too?

Is this what it looks like when hips lie? I need Shakira to clarify.

I'm not sure they'll touch the models again. They might bring back the old char creator and make sure all the bugs are fixed (like your ingame appearance being different from what you made in the creator), but the designs are probably what they are.

It's still very early Alpha. They're just placeholder. Everything will be fine, just give it time. Go and have another watch of the Character Creator livestream, and it'll show you what's in store.

Its so strange that the artists seem to have a clear grasp on what "cute" is artistically, so why are we getting these empyrean elves that look like tuskless vek orcs? I dont understand why we cant have overly masculine or overly feminine clothes to wear. Let me be a badass shirtless barbarian savage warrior. Let others play the loose cloth seductive mage. I know tons of girls that play ff14 just to get cosmetics and make pretty outfit combinations for their characters to look attractive.

This is one of the biggest issues with the art team imo, they are so progressive they completed the circle back to concealing gender expression completely. May as well give everyone bourkas with different shades of black for "uniqueness".

Edit: And another thing I want to rant about these artists. They get payed a fuck ton of money, they are one of the main reasons games like this cost so much. Yet we cant even get things that we want in the game without begging. For the love of god dont ignore the vast majority of players that just want cool and attractive looking character models/armor sets.

This is probably the only example ive found of them getting close to anything masculine/feminine showing.

why assume that in this fantasy world things will work the same..

Also who bloody cares.. I don't play mmos to look at 3d models of boobs and ass.. The character models look fine for the game as is..

I "bloody" care. I know I am not the only one.

It's not about looking at "boobs and ass". I could have used any race/gender from L2 and the point would have been the same.

The faces of verra right now might as well be the faces of Walmart.

They don't look fine as is. They look like they need a solid meal and rehab.

Since the Showcases of middle to late June 2023 already -> i think i witnessed that they don't want to make the Armors and Models to much of a curvy Difference towards their male Counterparts.

Because Ashes will probably run serious Danger then to become a kinda Barby-Dollshow in which 500 Topmodels fight 500 Topmodels in a City Siege. (lol)

Kidding. But i hope you know what i mean.

I think at some Point -> "hopefully" -> we will see the awesome Character Creation Options come to Life which are kinda promised from the Character Editor Footage. I think regarding more "curvy" Appearances and so on -> this will probably be enhanced visially by civil Clothes or so.

Armors are not supposed to make a Person look sexy. They are supposed to provide protection.

fantasy worlds tend to have this thing called magical armor that can take on many forms and still protect you. we already know transmog will be in the game. Nothing is holding this back save weirdo conservative progressive artists.

So what is the point in having a male or female char in the game? Then there is the fact people want cool looking armor not basic looking armor that everyone looks alike. I hope they change their minds on this otherwise we are going to only get ok looking armor from the cash shop and all in game armor is going to be extremely boring and no one will know when some one has hard to get armor cause it will be basic.
  • eastonleastonl Member, Alpha Two
Yeah, honestly my only gripe is the character models and proportions but ill have faith that is an easy fix.
  • CarlisleCarlisle Member, Alpha Two
Yeah, They look terrible, male and female. the armors are also not very pretty at the moment, they need make more clear the difference between female and male armor set
  • GreatPhilisopherGreatPhilisopher Member, Alpha Two
its a western game , sadly to say despite our pleads for so long seems the only thing we getting is dudes and dudes with some boobs (and both so far are hideously ugly) then add on top of it the armors being literally male armors for both genders with the same exact model almost , nothing feminine , nothing different and nothing unique

No, they really don't. Racial differences sure, because that's actually a significant change to the body types in some cases, but there's no reason to make drastic differences in armor between the male and female character models of the same race.
