Corruption system = anti pvp system

Member, Alpha Two
Every server is a PVE server with small pockets of PvP allowed to happen. These pockets are end game currently and there is zero PvP else where.
I attempted to PvP someone 2 levels higher then myself only to find them to run instead of fight. i chased and killed them.
i then lost all of my weapons for this. How is this balanced in any way he lost some gatherable goods I.E. moments of work where as i lost all of my gear progression for daring to PvP ONE PLAYER ONCE... NOT TWO NOT THREE NOT FOUR.
i killed one player and lost everything. This game is NOT a PVX GAME!!!
It was said to have an ANTI GRIEF system it's ANTI PvP system.
Clear and simple YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PVP ANYONE AT ANY TIME OUTSIDE OF THE LAWLESS ZONES...
IF PVP WAS A PART OF THIS GAME WHY ARE THERE ONLY 2 AREAS OUT OF THE ENTIRE ALPHA AND WHY ARE THE END GAME?!?!?! This game had one instance of asmongold getting camped and u respond with such over kill that it ruins the game for anyone else who enjoys fair pvp.
P.S. the fix is very simple PVP in the same level bracket or higher have no corruption unless you kill that same person more then once.. done idky we need to decimate and entire game claiming to be PVX because ONE streamer got ganked.

Sounds like you PK'd a guy and got corrupted, died and lost gear. Acting as intended.
Welcome to a real alpha TEST. It does need to be completed and tuned. Fortunately they have time to finish and tune the system.
you killed a peaceful player and got corrupted when the player didn't want to fight. What's wrong with that? If the player wanted to pvp he would have answered you. You didn't lose all items, at 1 pk you lose 1 to 3 items. The player loses half of the resources from the inventory. A peaceful player can lose legendary and epic resources that cost many times more than your stuff and are MUCH harder to obtain. Have you tried mining legendary copper? You can spend all day and get nothing. Your stuff can be obtained in a couple hours in a good group on elite mobs. Your claims sound childish and unreasonable.
Lineage 2 had the same system and no one cried!
Instant rare drops, items, economy, and entire gear loss ... those won't stay that way as Alpha-2 progresses.
You're not playing a finished game.
If you don't have money, go gather resources and sell them, but make sure you don't get killed by players like you.
Players in EVE have the maxim "don't fly what you can't afford to lose", and in Ashes that would follow as "don't get corruption if you have anything you can't afford to lose".
If you only have the weapons you are currently using, and no backups at all, then you can't afford to lose those weapons and so probably shouldn't gain any corruption until you remedy that situation.
WIth this in mind, corruption isn't an anti-PvP system, it is an anti-mindlessness system.
We need a pvp game that has some corruption mechanic, but not too harsh. Killing a player should not be punishable; however, it should have risks. You attack someone and are able to get THEIR loot, then you can also lose your own loot as well.
Outside of the new player areas, it should be 100% PVP IMO. That said, I do think if you attack someone, you should go red if they don’t attack back. Once red, you should not be able to enter town without the guards attacking you, like Ultima Online was. Then there can be a few Corruption towns spread around the entire world, but not in every biome.
Just create a system like UO and call it good!
Just make it on and off, while on has more xp while leveling and drops chance at max level.
And turn certain farming areas and open world dungeons into pvp on zones
focus on guild declaration of wars instead
Blown past falling sands…
How about NO,
Coruption was part of the Kick starter brief, we cant have a bunch of non flagged gatherers and resources andies stripping the landscape in another node without repercussions...
What is preventing non flags from using their immunity to exploit or bait or work in cohoots with guilds to block or impact an opposing group?
The fact is have switchable PVE/PVP would break the game. But if you had been on the forums long enough you would already understand this as it has been explained many many many times before....
Not sure what server you are on but try rolling on Resna as people often run around flagged up indicating they want pvp. I have seen and been involved in plenty of resource area pvp battles where players will suddenly flag on each other. I also see pvp activity all over the map and it routinely happens even inside of city nodes.
If you are not staying flagged, you really should not complain about pvp not happening. 😉
The situation you described was one where you attempted to pvp someone that did not want to pvp, a peaceful non-combatant and suffered the corruption penalty for doing so.
Although I do not agree that the current corruption mechanic is anti-pvp, I do agree that it is anti- forced pvp when it comes to players killing players that do not wish to pvp. You still were able force pvp upon the person that elected to remain a non-combatant, you just have a penalty for doing so.
I think to encourage more pvp, they could enact a risk vs reward incentive for more people to run around flagged such as a higher xp gain for doing so.
Skill issue.
You lost your gear because you committed murder and an unhonorable kill against an innocent player, then you were hunted down and killed by bounty hunters which looted your gear and either sold it or are enjoying it right now.
The corrupption system isn't even in full effect right now, it will get harsher.
1 auto attack is enough to signal the other player you want a duel. If you wanted honorable kills against unsuspecting players, wait for the desert region to fully release. PvP mode is always enabled in those lawless zones, and whether someone fights back or not won't matter there.
If ashes wants success it needs to make sure killing players has a high price
This would heavily incentivize people to play the game "normally" but if they for some reason would not want to be part of the social environment of the game, then they would have the option to do so. Just like people who want to be able to kill anyone they see fit.
Basically it's hard for me to give precise feedback as I'm not fully aware of the things currently in the game or planned for it but as an example:
A player opting to only play it as a singleplayer pve game experience (which the game is not designed for) they would be blocked out of f.ex:
gathering crafting materials & returning materials for node improvements, providing experience to a node, grouping up with others, potential openworld events, boss loot etc.
Alot of things could be prohibited and probably listed here and suggestions are welcome.
I get it that playing the game like that isnt... what one would generally want, but it does prove the opportunity for the player to play the game, level up in peace and eventually join the game when they're comfortable doing so.
This type of a system does the same thing in the opposing way as the game treats other gameplay aspects too - --giving the player the ultimate freedom to do whatever they want.
One situation i seen was that there was a player killing other players and his buddy was looting the corpses while not flagged. You shouldn't get corruption for killing his buddy. If you got stolen stuff in your inventory you should not count towards the corruption system.
Maybe they could put up protective domes around starting areas and make it so the corruption system comes from some type of deity. Build protection and a strong reaction for corruption via a method that discourages it in the beginning but as you venture out further away from that protection the risk becomes higher and the penalty for PvP becomes less.
This described a pve game.
almost like you need a server for people who think this way ... hmmmm what could that be ?
oh ... ya.... a PVE server and a PVP server
