Glorious Ashes community - we're excited to continue our new series called Guild Gatherings! Guild Gathering topics are a "reverse Q&A" similar to our Dev Discussions, where we ask you about your thoughts on everything related to guilds.

Our team has compiled a list of questions we'd love to get your feedback on regarding guild tools, gameplay, your previous experiences, and more. Join in on our Guild Gatherings and share how your gaming family is special to you!

Guild Gathering #2 - Guild Halls
What Guild Hall features would you like to see in Ashes of Creation? What features have you liked from other games? What features do you think have been missed opportunities?

Keep an eye out for our next Guild Gathering topic regarding how you measure success!

Hiya everyone - thank you for joining in on our latest Guild Gathering topic! After compiling your notes for our team, here was some of the top feedback you shared with us:
  • Many chimed in to provide examples of features they’d like to see enabled in guild halls:
    • Storage - chests with variable permissions, bank, member apartments
    • Commerce - guild/alliance exclusive shop, tabard/pennant vendor, artisan merchants
    • Decoration - maps, trophies, log books, flexible building tools
    • Activities - duel/arena area, guild quests, parlor games, music
    • Announcements - bulletin board, banners, war room
  • Some felt that guild halls should not provide all of a node’s services, so as to keep a bustling hub of player interaction within towns
  • In addition, a few shared their thoughts on whether or not teleportation should be enabled to and from a guild hall

    7. Gambling/games/music
    8. A large map for the guild to mark points of interest (enemy node, dungeon, etc)

I would like to be able to see other members on the map when I'm in the guild hall, or as a perk at some level of development.

A vendor that will sell that guild's tabard, pennant, and insignia.

Guild smith that can put a guild decal on your equipment.

A guild history book which tells the history of the guild. The book could have an entry for each player joining or leaving, with editable bio, guild boss fights, etc

Trophy display of bosses killed with the dates it was killed and player list on a plaque. It could be the bosses head mounted on a wall, with the plaque beneath it.

A guild bank, not access to the guilds bank, I'm saying let each guild guard their own stuff.

A guild wanted list, for players or guilds who have poor reputation with your guild.

A jobs board where members can offer artisan skills.

    A pool table
  • A building for your clan to decorate and build freely like gw2. Sometimes our hall looked amazing and sometimes someone built a jumping puzzle in there.

Final Fantasy 14 Style house, control over outside appearance, yard in front of house, and full design (Walls, floors, lighting, chandeliers w/e) inside. As well as company "apartments" for every member. An instanced room for guild members to design and put useful things inside (IE Crafting, appearance changers etc.)
... LOTS of decorations, trophies, and unique drops for housing

A big miss for Final fantasy is limiting the count of total objects you can place. Having deep customization get people invested. Im also a huge fan of the ULTRA limited housing. It makes it a big deal if you/your Guild has a Large house.

    1. An option to allow allied/sister guilds to enter your guild hall
    2. A war room for meetings with high ranking members, which could double as a place for guild achievements/hall of fame related content to be on display
    3. A world map for guildies to post events with a pin on the map (max 1 per person), whether that be a social event, or a call to arms to defend a caravan, or maybe to defend a nearby node under siege

be a gathering hub for guild mates -->merchants/traders etc that only your guild members have access to via some sort of unlock
a hall of fame where in some way shape or form your guilds and individuals biggest achievements can be displayed
have mini games be available in it
large world map with all the things your guild mates have discovered
actually accessible room for guild treasury, not some imaginative safe that works over UI
guild intern arenas (not instanced but for all players present to see) for 1v1/2v2
  • An arena where guild members can duel each other.

I really liked LOTROs customizable kinship houses. That said, the housing system in LOTRO in general is something I'd like to see in other games as well, with the relatively free placement of "stuff" while still adhering to rules and a max limit to assets for technical reasons.

I'd very much like to see different kind of guild "bases". Imagine if your headquarters could be in a cave, in a townhouse, in a castle on top of a mountain, perhaps even on a sizeable ship that could be taken out to sea and dock at different locations! "Be careful in the Generic Woods, there is a PVP guild village there!" "Oh, look, it's the mighty Ship of Pwnage, is there a raid going on nearby?"

It might sound minute, but the option to set the music would be welcome. An evil-themed mercenary guild should not be forced to listen to dwarven lounge reggae.

I would love to see a guild hall that can be freely decorated like Star Wars Galaxies house system. Being able to drop anything and move them around your whole house.
I would also love to see monsters and bosses drop rare decoration items so when people visit a guild hall they can see the awesome achievements your guild has completed.

I've never played a game with a guildhall, so i'm just going to be guessing here what u're reffering to and give my best explanation for what i would like to see.

My vision is a big building in the center of a town or close to the center. The building can be instanced or non-instanced, i believe that instanced would be better for the game as it would allow A LOT more guilds to utilize the feature instead of only the leading guilds on the server.

What would i like to see in this building?
A meeting room, a room so big that it could host an entire guild. Maybe a huge table in the middle surrounded by chairs so that when a guild holds a meeting u can sit down "in person" with every1. More outwards should be rings of elevated seats like in an arena (best way i can describe it) where additional participants can take a place. It would be cool if the guildmaster could designate spots depending on guildrank so only officers and the like may sit at the table in the center (might wanna make it smaller) or control who's allowed to enter the meeting room.

I'd love to see a room dedicated to trophies to display the achievements of the guild, such as giant dragon scales mounted on the walls, bones from skeleton monsters, heads from all various enemies that have been defeated.

Something along those lines is what i envision when i hear "guild hall" in an Ashes of Creation setting. Just my 5cents.

Thanks for reading and thanks for hosting these reversed QnAs.

Personally I'd like to see a system like Guild Wars 2 has, where the guild has to collectively gather materials to build and upgrade the base with various features. Examples:

Tavern Restoration — The first upgrade you must complete for the Guild Hall is the Tavern Restoration.
Mine Excavation — Completing this allows your guild to start mining to create Guild Upgrades. Your guild must be level 2 to start this upgrade.
Capacity — In order to get the required materials for Workshop Restoration you need to increase the material storage cap.
Workshop Restoration — Unlocks Scribe and the rest of the buildings. In addition to other upgrades for the respective buildings.

    Buildings:
Guild upgrades will be primarily grouped around the six main buildings, each of which is associated with elements of guild gameplay. Locations vary.

Guild Arena — an area for guild members to use as a combat sandbox and customize it with obstacles and traps.
Guild Market — associated with finance, mercantilism, and unlocks a new tier of guild weapons and armor for your weaponsmith and armorer.
Guild Mine — allows guilds to gather and store materials.
Guild Tavern — associated with socialization and effects.
Guild Workshop — associated with gathering and the guild crafting discipline, Scribe.

Last but not least; Decorations — players can choose where various decorations are positioned within the guild hall.

i like to see if the decoration we get from drop and get from the store from our home can up added to the guild hall not all item but some item like they have in SWTOR. a trophy room for the guild would be great like they had in TSW. some game have venders in the guild housing that will also be great but have guild member stock them for the guild will great.

    8. A large map for the guild to mark points of interest (enemy node, dungeon, etc)

These are great. Specifically 1-5. Having active duels and group pvp within your guild is a big incentive for people to join as well as for current members to practice and improve. This combined with the other suggestions above would make for a very robust and useful guild hall
  • Teleportation system
    Crafting stations
    Auction house
  • 1. Book of reviews and suggestions would be great! Where all people who come through can leave a comment and put a rating.
    2. Full customize of interior and exterior
    3. Craft workshops (If Craft system will youse tables or something like this)
    4. Voice channels like in taverns
    5. ?minigames?
    6. Opportunity to set up NPC shops like Bartender or some retainers to sell stuff from your inventory to other players
    7. instanced rooms for guildmates

So when I look at Guild halls I look for many different things so I will list them off as follows

    1. Crafting stations, it is nice to have a one stop shop for Guild Members to congregate and use the various crafting stations in a location you know they always will be
    2. Guild bank/ storage. Who does not like having a place to store stuff for guild use.
    3. Discussion boards for guild information.
    4. An open area for guild meeting, I always love having a meeting hall, congress, drinking hall, or other wide space meant for large events.
    5. Customization, IT NEEDS TO LOOK DIFFERENT THAN OTHER GUILDS. People like to be unique and one way to do this is allow guilds to fly their banners throughout it, choose the colors of the walls, where furniture is placed, and perhaps giving guilds a few layout plans they can choose from to meet their needs.
    6. For Guild Freeholds you could go further by giving guilds diverse building layouts in multiple buildings as well as allow them to choose from a walled in freehold for a fort look or give it a more open look for something more peaceful.
    7. Fountains, statues, and other assorted unique furnishings to be placed where you want to give it the immersive look your guild desires.
    8. If the area is large enough perhaps have small common crop or resource gathering nodes within it walls.
    9. For Roleplay, always having cool hangout spots, taverns, and various other immersive rooms or areas brings out the potential for stories and constant use.
    10. A stables area or hitching post to keep mounts and they are shown sitting or standing there.
    11. Allowing pets to wander the halls to give some population
    12. NPC guards in Guild armor to fill up the space for aesthetic.
    12. Garden areas, courtyards, barracks, and more!
    13. Merchants that sell guild guilds, armors, and assorted guild cosmetics such as capes, tabards and more.
    14. Trophy area.
    15. Library to keep the books and tomes written by members.

Just a small list of various things to make Guild Halls be far superior in this game compared to others!

I'd love to see a menagerie like they had in GW1. Some kind of garden where guildmembers can display different types of animals that have been caught or bred. Could have the name of the player that donated specific creatures displayed somewhere. Perhaps with a keeper that can list off different traits that have been unlocked/discovered for each species and by whom?

    We would like to see
A shop with items based on points put into it and level of your guild that the guild management can buy with guild funds for the members.
An arena area that we can practice pvp
Guild member stores that we can sell to eachother at prices for only guild members
The option to build outbuildings of our choice.
Guild NPC workers who you can hire to gather for you.

  • Starting with things I enjoyed from other games, when our guild played ESO, we thoroughly enjoyed being able to display trophies from all the dungeons and raids we completed together. They had no mechanical impact, it was just a cool way to see how far we’d come as a team.
Guild Wars 2 had a brilliant system where you build race tracks. A cool idea, but being able to run a guild race track could be a pretty cool event to attract new members or raise gold. I also enjoyed the system they had where we had to work together and collect resources to level up the guild hall and have access to more parts of the hall.
Things I think could be really good based upon what I’ve heard about the game, would be guild barding, commerce/trading and mini games.
Guild barding would be incredible, you could customise a colour theme and emblem, and have it displayed on anything from capes and standards to mounts, caravans and even boats. In terms of guild halls, you could have banners and such to decorate with.
Commerce and trading would be interesting, as it could allow smaller guilds to create unique in game business, such as restaurants/taverns, crafts workshops, stables, etc...
Using their guild halls as a centre of business would be an interesting idea and could encourage guilds to invest in land, attract new members or even forge alliances with other guilds.
Mini games tie into the business aspect, allowing players to partake in things like mount racing and games of chance, creating more opportunities for gold to circulate in the community.
Mini games and commerce could allow smaller guilds to gain reputation and traction in areas that may potentially otherwise be dominated by the larger groups and alliances, by offering niche or highly specialised services from their home base.
I think that guild halls which are restricted to only members of the guild is a big missed opportunity, as they have so much potential for public access (of course only specified guild members can build or make changes) to show off a guilds accomplishments or act as a shop/business centre.
I also think that another missed opportunity is games offering guild storage, but not being able to access it from your guild hall.

  • I liked Lineage 2's guild halls which were open world and were basically smaller versions of castles that guilds could fight for control of every few weeks.

I think like a wall of achievements that have happened for the guild to be displayed in some immersive way, similar to a leader board, but like images or a banner displaying titles/ achievements owned by the guild.

    1. one of my fantasies that i see in anime or read about on novels is how a guild is maintaining its buisness by fulfilling request to the public but also asking from outsiders to do missions for the guild.
for starters i really want to see a board system allowing both the guild and outsiders to put requests, these requests can be for an example :
A player is asking for a mercenary guild for an escort a caravan.
Or a crafting guild is asking outsiders to gather raw ressources for them.
    2. it would also be great if we were responsible for the recruitement or the creation of the NPCs that exist within a guild hall, and utlizing theses npcs eother to fight gvg battles or making them gather raw materials within the guildhall, or just have them maids wondering around and cleaning, delevering resting xp and boosts for players while being in the guild hall.
    3. also being able to decorate guild halls with ornement earned from killing bosses is mandatory

    .
  • For guild hall features, there are three things that I think are important to facilitate: meeting up to go out and adventure with guildies, a place to communicate the guild’s needs, and the ability to develop fellowship between members. In Warframe, I’ve really enjoyed the obstacle course – it allowed for a safe place to train others and test out equipment; plus it was fun to try and beat the guild’s best time. In YoHoHo Puzzle Pirates, the entire Pirate Hall (the game’s equivalent guild hall) was fully customizable and it was allowed to place tables to play all of the carousing/fighting games available as well as set up tournaments.

I think that I as a player should have a good reason to go to the guild hall, be it to meet friends for a fun time, or access vendors with preferred rates, or work on a collective resource harvesting node; if there isn’t a good reason for me to be coming back there, then I’m not going to really be using that space very often. In warframe, the clan dojo is essential to researching blueprints to get some new equipment; consequently I’m there constantly to achieve this. In puzzle pirates, it was purely a place to congregate; I’m only there when I’m early for a planned meet up – not nearly as much personal use, but still a good means to keep people organized.

  • i would like guild hall, like we can customize size of building. some big guild maybe like castle or big sized building, but for me small guild like a small building. like a camp or small building in middle forest.
so i hope we can customize our guild building.
  • I really liked @Mikasa 's post.
I would also like to see some sort of metrics showing members level of contribution to the guild, so that guild support can be fairly allocated.
