Re: [Bard Instrument Suggestion] The Hurdy-Gurdy
Hurdy-Gurdy is included in a Game i played for Years. Sea of Thieves.
Why not all other Instruments of that Game, as well ? ;-> And of Course, "MOAR" !! (lol) Flutes, Harps, Ocarina's, whatever is possible.
I saw a tiiiny Footage with a Bard having a Flute. It was the weird Shorts Video in which he literally blew a few other Characters away with it. 😁

[Bard Instrument Suggestion] The Hurdy-Gurdy
The Hurdy-Gurdy
The Hurdy-Gurdy string instrument produces sound by a hand crank that turns a rosined wheel. The wheel rubs against the strings and functions much like a violin bow. Melodies are played on a keyboard that presses small wedges against one or more of the strings to change their pitch. Like most other acoustic stringed instruments, it has a sound board and hollow cavity to make the strings' vibrations audible.
Most Hurdy-Gurdies have multiple drone strings, which give a constant pitch accompanied by the melody, resulting in a sound similar to that of bagpipes. The Hurdy-Gurdy is generally thought to have originated from fiddles in either Europe or the Middle East before the eleventh century. During the Renaissance, the Hurdy-Gurdy was an extremely popular instrument, and its characteristic form had a short neck and a boxy body with a curved tail end.
This would be a spectacular instrument to add to the game, as its unique sounds and rich history open many opportunities for something other than the traditional lute, flute, guitar, or violin. Attached are a few images of the instrument and what it looks like when held by an individual. I also attached a video showcasing what the instrument can sound like when played by a professional.

Re: alpha 2
would love to see keys for alpha 2 open up again some time in alpha 2 so they can test on boarding accounts and opening new severs while live, this might help them come the launch day influx. what do you think are the chances?
If you mean Stress Tests - maybe but no Promises -> this could probably indeed happen later on in Alpha Two.
But this sounds more like something to in the middle or shortly before the Beta, or am i wrong ?
Right now, i wouldn't count on Intrepid giving Alpha Two Keys anytime soon. Maybe not even at all, but only Beta Keys in the Future from a certain point of Date.

Must have simple features
So playing new world, you could Hold W to keep running forward and then hold Alt at the same time to pan the camera around while staying on a straight path (if you move the camera you would follow it without holding down alt)
What this does it allows me to increase my situational awareness by checking my flanks without loosing forward momentum as I run towards my target, normally I would do this in games by strafing to keep my character on path but to look around, issue with this is usually strafing slows you down. the Alt camera pan fixed this for me.
anyone else know some minor features like this that can drastically improve gameplay?

Re: alpha 2
I think they'll have multiple servers. Pretty sure one for EU and one for NA at the very least. It would make sense to have one for SEA too. Dunno about the physical location for the servers, but in terms of primetime events at least. In A1 we had up to like.. 6(?) servers.

Alpha 2 is a testing phase NOT early release. We will be testing things they want to test not just running around doing our own thing. It will start feature incomplete and get better as time goes on. There Will be game breaking bugs. There will be wipes and you'll have to start all over. All these kinds of threads do is reinforce my beliefs that many have no idea what they are signing up for.
Exactly.
Right now i imagine Alpha Two as an insane Workaholic Festival. 😅
4 months. Cute.
I am reminded of the Statement from the "Djinn" (?) in the Wishmaster Movie, who made Fun of it when he was told be will be in Prison for a few Weeks or so. x'D after he like waited an Eternity before.

I am well aware - even since 2017 and 2018 and the Like -> of " why " i never really made a Connection to Ashes of Creation,
why i had "forcefully" to pull my Focus away from it,
only because i know of VideoGames who actually manage to be good taking an Eternity to come out since about 2015, (lol)
and because i - ( and i HATE that my gutfeeling is always right about things like this ) - knew it is going to be an MMO : and if it is really supposed to be good, it will still take a felt Eternity to come out.
Back then, i had no Idea it would indeed take this long. Now i am aware what i wrote could easily be interpreted as a little bit assy,
but hands down - was i right or was i right ? I am amazed by People like You, Bloodprophet - who apparently waited more or less eagerly for Six whole Years and maybe even above.
With You being still active here in the Forum. Without despairing. Without having suffered LOOOOOOTS of Frustration, like a few others i saw here giving their Minds in the last, few Months.
Please forgive me for singing my own praises *gg* , but i think i am just the right Mix between egoistical, selfish Person - and Person who allows itself to get drawn into the Hype - just when i thought the Time was right.
And the Time was right -> around last September in 2023. 😁
There is not shortage of these kinds of threads over the years.
Several of them talk about how long it take to make MMO's. I realized very early on that 7-10 years was a real thing and accepted it.
I would rather wait patiently for them to get it right rather then bounce foot to foot screaming hurry up.
This is a big problem with open development. Most people have no idea what it takes to build an MMO and think it is a weekend project a couple of nerds can just bang out real quick.
IF alpha 2 came out next weekend we are still a year from launch at least.
Last part.

Environmental life?
Hey all,
Just found another misplaced doobie and it got me thinking... I've played a lot of games that despite being beautiful, well designed, and populated with NPCs, they still felt dead or sterile. I think it might've be due to lack of "life". How difficult would it be to make a few rodent, insect, or bird sprites, to randomly move about the world. Would that even make a difference? Do your creatures interact with each other in any way? I'm just letting my mind wonder.

Hi @Moseph
7:30 seconds BUTTERFLIES
11:23 seconds BIRDS SITTING ON GROUND and fly off as Steven gets near them.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhvQEPuexjg
6:15 seconds BIRDS FLYING (Not sure if those are supposed to be birds or leaves)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydYFqNMQGkM&t=2s
I think more details like this will be added closer to beta. But would love to see more birds flying high in the sky, maybe little rodents like mice running around, or rats in cities (Human cities, us elves don't have rats)
