Big difference with this MMO is the Devs; they have the experience & they aren't inclined* by anything to ignore it's Community - something I've seen & heard happen to many MMOs
  • 1 vote for "I don't like AoC or I'm just here to feed the trolls". Thats it!!! Is anyone here witch a bucket, a torch and a rat??

Don't worry, I'm not planning to do something horrible. Just for research purposes.

    That sounds dangerous @Dolan

That looks more like another kind of Donald :worried:
  • None of the above. I have no reason to doubt or trust the team making Ashes. What they have is a solid set of skilled people and a vision I like. I happen to have a few hundred bucks I didnt mind tossing away no matter if the game made it or not. My hope is they make the game they are shooting for. If not, I will keep playing Pantheon.

This was the intention of "Healthy skeptic, been burnt before, but hoping AoC will be good."

I was just going to say... that was a very bold statement
  • @lemax
Lol, I have no idea what happened or how to make it unhappen.  It was quite bold though. Or is bold.  :)
  • I am not too worried that they won't deliver a good MMO. They have the people, tools and fundings to do it. So now its up to them, lets hope they won't disappoint!

And their team is still growing in size.

I'm in my own little sphere but I think I'd be closest to the middle ground.

Do you think we should start a cult:dizzy:
    We've got enough unwavering fanatics!
    Rituals and costumes and wotnot?

And feeding the trolls is more than acceptable, after all if we're going to start a cult, we need some nice healthy sacrifices :D
    I'm on it!

    Shopping list for starting cult.
    1. Kool aid (bulk)
    2. Fancy robes (machine washable)
    3. Probably need more kool aid
    4. Scimitar or similar (Nothing too fancy, Walmart will do)
    5. Maybe @nagash will be cheaper (i think he works pro boneo)
    6. Other stuff TBD... ask @Megs

CULT! I would like a membership please...

You know, all you fans of talking animals might be interested to know that the Ducktales reboot comes out this fall.  David Tennant does the voice of Scrooge.

I quite like the retro animation art style they went with.

We now return to our regularly scheduled topic.
  • I have to say though, I am very surprised by the number of people who are not at least skeptical.
Me too. As I've stated elsewhere, blind optimism may actually be harmful to a project like this one. I've experienced this before, and I don't wish to see again what may happen when an army of hyped-up fanatics refuse all kind of criticism... just because "this game is gonna be awesome", and "If you don't like it, just scram".

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that this community is composed by rabid heads. Quite the opposite: I'm keep meeting very balanced and MMORPG-experienced people, and that's something that surely enriches us as a whole, making us stronger.
Nevertheless, I'll never grow tired of repeating to be cautious, ready to support but also prompt to criticize the developers in a positive way. Never forget this project will face countless adversities: we can overcome them only by keeping a steady, no-nonsense attitude.

Passion is ok, at least until it doesn't degenerate into fanaticism.
  • I have high hopes. If the devs can deliver what they promised it will probably explode in popularity very quickly.
  • We'll see...
  • Management of an mmo project is pretty important Steven is a noob therefore I'm a reasonable skeptic I think.
