I actually started PC gaming at 10. 1979. Our school, which was located near a military base, was given a TRS-80, and that was handed over to the "gifted program." For those of us in the program, we used the computer to keep our school store's inventory, as well as play games.

The catch is that both the inventory management software (database, today) and the game required a bit of programming, in order to use it. For the dbase, we had to actually "teach" the computer how to think, and for the games, we had to do lots of math in order to figure out where our projectiles would hit.

I never really realized how abnormal that was, for that time; I always, however, knew quite well that that's where my passion for database design was born. I also, at that time, wanted to learn how to really teach computers to think. Wish I'd followed that career path
@Isende we had two TRS-80s at school, a model I and III. The model III actually "looked" like a computer should. We took turns sharing these in a class of about 20, so we didn't get much hands on time back then. At the naive age of 12 I wrote a letter to Tandy asking them if they had any spare Model IIIs that they could give to a poor kid!  Of course I never heard back from them. Much later on I got a Sinclair ZX Spectrum. It was color so it was waaay better than the trash 80

30, newly married to a wife who doesn't like video games, with a demanding job, but I will find a way to lose countless hours to this game nonetheless!
I have done it for years. Of course, my wife and I have been together since I was 16, and I am 37 now....so it's pretty easy these days. She doesn't like games. The key is finding her a hobby. Lol My wife is a "digger". She metal detects, crafts, does ancestry etc. She goes metal detecting, I jump on the PC.
Very cool.  I metal detect too.

Is your wife a Garrett girl?  ;)
Yes, she is. She uses a garret AT pro. She even went to the Garret event in Jefferson, Texas a month or so ago with nugget noggin etc. @Rumbleforge

This isn't the same company that makes the T-700 engine on BlackHawks is it??

Sorry... I just took this way off topic, i'm bad with that :worried:

Lol No, Garrett makes high end metal detectors. They are pricey, but well worth it. You don't get much better than a Garrett.
  • Oh Ok... Either way for the correction, i was meaning the auxiliary power unit and not the t-700... just in case someone may come by and read my post LOL
  • 27, but I've been playing MMOs since I was 10. Played Star Wars Galaxies in beta and heard about this game through old SWG vets. Definitely ready for a real MMO experience again.

Very cool!   I use the AT Pro as well.  Lovely machine!

    That's a really interesting story
She's a really interesting person with an intriguing mind.  Part of what I love about her.  We have some awesome conversations.  :)

23, and I feel "old" in most mmo's I play . I used to feel average age mmo player when I was 18 :P. Im happy to see I was mistaken.

    Why 30? Is 30 a magical number? :D
It will feel like a magical number the further away you get from it.  ;)
I gotta tell ya, and I've said this to a lot of people who dread turning 30 because they're leaving their 20's... 30 is one of the best decades, if not THE best.  You're old enough to know stuff, but still quite young enough to enjoy doing a wide variety of things.
