Toxicity in forums. What is it and how we can prevent it?

Peace is where it's at. For example...I have a really good friend. More like a brother to me. He is a Conservative Christian. His wife, is an atheist liberal. When asking him how in the world that works. He replied: "We don't talk down to each other. Rather, we talk to each other. We do not agree on politics or religion-and that's okay. Instead of harping on each other about it and never letting it go, we each listen to the other and their point and move on without agreeing." 

Granted in a forum, that is not going to always happen. However, something I have learned throughout these years about people and conformity. People are either going to conform to others they hang around, or the ones they hang around will conform to you. (E.g.-ever notice if your friends start saying a word over and over, you may say it's dumb-but after hanging with them for a while...you catch yourself saying it?) In short, if you want others to change-start the change with yourself. As then, you will eventually force others to conform to that change....or they'll annoy you until you die. Whichever comes first

Thanks. Granted, I could take my own advice sometimes because I have a big mouth and I know it. It has gotten me in trouble all of my life. That's only because I'm right, though. They're wrong.

Good morning. Heh. 

Sometimes we just have to realise that

1. we can assume what another person's intention is despite what they say. 
2. Accept their explanation of their intention is what they claim. 

Then either agree, disagree, agree to disagree or ignore what they're saying. 

It's usually hard to have any useful discussion when scenario 1 happens.
