Glorious Alpha Two Testers!

We are in the Alpha Two Phase II testing which will take place 5+ days each week.

Alpha Two testing is scheduled to happen daily until January 13, 2025 at 10PM PT. We will have periods of downtime for hotfixes and daily restarts happening at 2 AM PT for NA realms, and 2 CET for EU realms.

Starting next week, Alpha Two realms are scheduled to be online for 5+ days a week from Thursdays at 10 AM PT to Mondays at 10 PM PT. Alpha Two realms are planned to be down on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and for daily restarts. Alpha Two realms will also be brought down as updates and fixes are ready.

    That's quite the over reach. Prot is used so much in mmos that very very veeerrryyyy few would would think about it that way. Its so often used that ppl know prot is protection generally

    Literally never heard it used that way till you all brought it up. We probably just play different games. Like I said it probably isn't that big a deal just 'could be'. For now it doesn't get any complaints from me as already noted. Not my first choice (I am team Guardian but its taken by the duplicate archtype :neutral: ) but I wouldn't complain.

    I said change tank to guardian since that's kind of their job and then upgrade tank/tank to something else like a phalanx or something else.

    Either way I still agree 'tank' seems like an out of place name compared to the rest.

    Aigh here is my 2cents.

    Tank+fighter = mercenary/deserter/fallen/fallen knight
    Tank+tank = Knight
    And Guardian becomes the free name for the role of tanks.

    A keeper is a guardian base with summoner secondary
    A spellshield is a guardian base with mage secondary

    A knight is the only VIABLE guardian for tanking raids

    I like your opinion on names. That's a good set of fixes. Your last line otoh I am less sure about, but that's a topic deserving it's own thread of which I think several already exist.

    Getting closer to A2 i think its high time that we revisit this issue.

    Exactly, the name of the Archtypes with the name "Tank" standing out like an inflammed pimple in an otherwise immaculate face.

    Tank doesn't fit the fantasy setting. Its immersion breaking and it shows a lack of attention to detail on Intrepid's part and let's not forget that attention to detail is the thing that makes great games outstanding instead

    The logical reason to change it is that there are multiple character combinations capable of tanking. So if you are looking for a tank for a dungeon you are asking for Tanks as well as tanks. So really that's down to whether or not you think that will be an issue. Will people who are capable of tanking but don't have the Tank archetype think you want their help or not?

    I don't think this is a big deal but I get your point, tank is a title and not so much a class name. It would be easy for them to call the archetype guardian instead and rename the tank/tank a behemoth or defender or something, but most people probably don't care.
