The problem with having “Tank” as a class name

Hello all, I believe this discussion may have come up before, but I really would like Steven and friends to reconsider the name “Tank”. Overall, they have done a good job at naming the other classes and subclasses, but they ruin the immersion of the game by using the class name “tank”. Tank was a code name given to military vehicles being created in 1915. It has been a slang term for classes and archetypes in many video games given to the role that is used to absorb/mitigate or “tank” damage. Having a class name feels very uncharacteristic compared to the other class names. It’s like naming your cat “Cat”. It’s cute and punny, but is that what they really want for their game? What class do you play? Oh, I play a tank! Yea, but like what class? TANK!! *insert meme of a tank with a face on it... drooling*

I think Guardian sounds better for the primary class.

Guardian is Tank/Tank. You'd need a different name not already taken for a Main Class if you even stand a chance of changing the basic archetype name (Which I don't think Steven wants.)((Steven has said before Tank name won't be changed.))

It just doesn't sounds good for the fantasy, tank is a rol not a class name.

What about Defender?

I'm not sure why they didn't use Bulwark. They describe the Tank as Bulwark. I don't see the Tank as a Defender. The Tank is very viable in offense in PvP.

Tank sounds fine for a fantasy game.
In a fantasy setting - it connotes a heavily armoured object.

Some people like tank, some people like guardian or whatever. It doesn't matter, it's just an archetype name. They're supposed to be very general and abstract. Just as was mentioned in the other threads on this subject, you can call yourself with your actual class name which is derived from your primary and secondary archetype. If you want to be called a guardian, then choose tank/tank.

Bulwark sounds good too. I support Steve in this game proyect but I really can't understand him in this desicion.

It's just not as good as something like Karthos, or even Kartholer

This is an issue that needs to be dealt with immediately..

But since leveling gets exponentially slower as you get higher, and since the game will be played 90% at the level cap (as per literally every other MMO ever), that first 25 levels will make up 2 or 3 percent of your play time.

Tank as a class name is perfect fine, if we are given an in game reason as to where the name came from. This need be nothing more than someone thousands of years earlier looking at someone in full plate armor and commenting that they look like a metal water tank, and that name just sticking.
