    See you there.

You should go on ahead so we get the Ren'Kai architecture.

Btw @Azherae, I think that little corner may just be the new Orc starting portal. <speculation alert>
Judging by the old map, with portals marked:

    h2gzfqu2ngct.png

The portal is kind've between 3 zones; starting in the north then leading south into either 1) swamps or 2) mountain area.
So I'd guess the new map equivalent of that might be our little patch; starting in "Asian" and leading north into the same two zones, swamps & mountains.

Yeah, actually, this was predicted, too.

So technically, while the biome is nice, there was also a period where we kinda 'decided we wanted to be Empyreans that live with Ren'Kai', and then I just had to 'reverse engineer where the Ren'Kai should live based on the lore and design' and hope that the world designer used the basic conventions.

So, barring any 'trying to be different for the sake of it', should be good there. Fingers crossed. I'd somewhat expect the node to be either Military or next to military (with the Military node nearby being at a higher elevation and acting as an outpost against... whatever lives in the mountains/hills).

Would be sweet. I'd be happy to settle the nearby Military node. No guild though yet, kinda hoping to just find some good people in-game. Plus I'm a bit of a filthy casual in terms of time I'm able to commit.

Btw, do we know roughly what the downsides are to finding yourself in a vassal node?
They'll be preventing from levelling ahead of the parent node, and pay taxes etc.
But are there reasons to prevent people just packing up and heading to the parent node for citizenship?

    Its complicated.

As an Econ-focused player, I'd actually say with no solid evidence whatsoever...

There are not yet any reasons not to pack up and leave.
Intrepid hasn't shown us any design of that level of depth yet. It takes quite a lot of work to get there, in my opinion.
Right now, Vassal nodes basically have a master-slave relationship.

Yeah similar, can't recall any incentive to stay at a vassal node, outside of the (increasing) cost of citizenship as the parent node levels up.
    Not a great incentive though.

I'd like to be loyal to a node, and have the game at least partially incentivise that.

    wars can be an incentive.

you dont want everybody in your guild / ally to be in the same node, because you will need things from all 4 nodes to gear up (or at least economic and scientific nodes) and you probably don't want to be a citizen of another t6 node (lets say your guild is in a t6 scientific node and you want to join an economic node) because your guild / ally is going to attack it every chance they get since the war / enemies are there. you don't wanna lose the stuff in your warehouse to your own guild / ally plus enemies who pick them up. so you join a vassal node of the t6 node where your guild / ally is.

Small Divagation and Please forgive me for this A.I. Picture to "bring this Topic a bit back to Life", almost like kinda making it into the Theme of this Picture,

What do You Guys think about a possible Place, Area - or several, where "King Atrax" (?) could have his Home ? Or if it is completely destroyed and gone -> could it return with a possible Future Patch decided by Sir Steven and the remaining Developers ?

Could something like a Necropolis Kingdom rise, like out of Heroes of Might and Magic ? Since all Races, Allegiances, Alliances and Factions we will be able to play are living Beings - i wouldn't count on anytime soon to be able to play as some kind of undead "Citizen" of an unliving Kingdom. ;)

I'm going to have to go with the Red Wood Forest. So far we've only really seen concept art but it looks fantastic! A good blend of mystery, colour, tall trees like in Sequoia (US) and also located on the eastern continent which for some reason appeals to me since it seems isolated. I would also have to go with a Economic node since I want to really dive deep into the crafting aspect of AoC.

Lastly one of my favorite zones in classic wow was Azshara and the Red Wood Forest has strong vibes of that aesthetic.

Yeah I'm keen to get to this place for all the same reasons.
    Western continent though, isn't it?

Btw sounds like you want a Scientific node. I believe that'll be the one specialising in Artisan progression, including crafting.

I like constant zones tied to constant weather. I love "always raining" zones.
I also like underground zones and deserts.

Pretty much like every biome type except snow. Snowy zones bore tf out of me. Just expect to see a field of white.

I found a gallery on pixiv ( which is pretty slow for me during japanese primetime ) where a guy makes breathtaking landscape art which suits this topic.
May it inspire the Intrepit team if there are still some zones left on Verra they haven't yet flashed out or are undecided what for achitecture to put there.

Here is an appetizer for the many shots in one upload and the upload itself.
Do not forget he/she(?) has much much more on their account still.

I will adventure across the world with my best friend to see as much of the world as we can. When she says that she feels like she's home, I will stop, look around, and say "yes, this is where we make our stand".

Hmm so your Character is one of the two Elf Races, isn't it ? ^.^

My own Take would be :

    Node : Military or Divine
Biome : Snowy Woods or Icy Mountains.

Did i already write that before ? I don't care. The waiting Time between every Month 15th and the End of the Month is everytime a pain in the butt. ^.^

I think an economic coastal node would be up my alley, preferably in someplace like the Riverlands, or a jungle biome. I plan on going pretty hard into crafting systems and seafaring, so yeah, it's a pretty straightforward decision for me on node type and coastal location.

As for biome, I think it might depend more on what place would be best for a wide variety of safe(r) trade. Riverlands are tucked inland a bit, forcing you to travel south out of the bay and around the Sandsquall Desert until you can access the other main continent, where the northeastern Sandsquall or eastern redwoods would give you much more expedient access to trans-oceanic trading ports.

I think more secluded ports and the trips you need to take between them will be havens for piracy, and that's the one part of seafaring in Ashes that honestly just sounds like a PITA to me. But perhaps the most piracy will occur between the ports that're closer to their opposing continent because of the high value trades between passed between them, and "rural" outer-map-edge ocean trade will be the safer route. We'll have to wait and see.

Scientific node are the ones for crafting.

Yes, I'll be making a Py'rai Cleric,Bard, or Summoner for sure as a main. I only really play elves given the choice.
