It's not imposing views on others when the "others" are constantly asking the community for feedback. The opinions in these threads are the feedback the developers are asking for. They want the feedback.
When the developers have a hard opinion about something, they can and do put their foot down.
This is my personal feedback, shared to help the game thrive in its niche.
Yes elves come from the norse/celtic mythology and if you go have a look at it, you will find out that after all there is a lot of different depictions of elves over the eras, i mean just have a look at the elves from harry potter...
'... there are many many different variations yet most fall into the same vague category of description. If I say elf you imagine a handsome or beautiful long and pointed eared supermodel-like creature with flowing loreal locks of hair and a love of nature.' - ^ Precisely as you described 😆
wow orcs look nothing like lotr orcs btw, and i do prefer lotr orcs anyday
'If you read a book and it tells you the sky is blue, you don't get to say "Well I think it's green".' - Well i might want it to be green instead its up to my imagination, who gonna stop me? btw there is different shades of blue, some quite greenish... 'The sky is blue because it's not your story to tell' - but I'AM the one reading it, so i can imagine as i want
'They are inside the "book" that is Ashes of Creation and if the author says your character is a primarily black-skinned race, you shouldn't suddenly get mad that there are no white-skinned versions of your race.' - Pls care to provide link where is stated (lore wise) how the races in ashes are precisely described?
'I just don't want to see players attempting to push for silly notions of diversity when we literally have the Tulnar' - Im sry, WHAT? Are you being serious? You really think that is the tulnar who will provide the diversity we are looking for?? (one can only ponder who is the actual silly in here...)
Elves in a matter of fact were depicted at one point by being small mischievous creatures, even malevolent beings; While orcs are somewhat Tolkien's version of dark elves; Dwarves well i assume you have seen how actual dwarfs look like, they only made them supernatural in the folklore. And according to your logic, you must believe that the vampires you see today on the screen/books are what they were primally depicted as?
'"Elves are more diverse now than ever." They have evolved through multiple interpretations...' yeeeeeah? About that tho... some clearly still refuse to acknowledge that.
"Fantasy is a genre of speculative fiction that involves supernatural or magical elements, often including completely imaginary realms and creatures."
Mythology - stories/legends or beliefs about a particular being and situation, term for fiction or story-telling. Myths are story-telling narratives, also described as fictional or invented stories. The word "myth" comes from Ancient Greek meaning narrative, or fiction.
Literally made one with pale skin in bg3 plus
from The Hobbit
meanwhile Niküa served on a plate to you
If i want to create a dark skinned elf or with 'asian' features, why couldn't i? And im neither dark skinned nor asian, so why people that are so cant they? Same thing applies to the other races (the races in the game). Ofc there should be some limitations in the character creator so people dont go over the board with it, otherwise abominations will be created.
faces/tattoos/adornments
[- dd2 imo most advanced in terms of sliders/presets (body/tattoos-body painting/ scars wise), quite detailed customization, there is even skin tones/complexion types of presets as also a huge range of body presets; face wise a bit more restrained although there is still a good portion of quite diverse face presets; makeup wise good amount-diversity to choose also a large range of colors for each step (be it eyes/eyeliner/blush/lips), also the glossy slider for each; and can change color of eyebrows/ lashes, even the tip of the eyelash/ beard/ and body hair each individually
- inzoi i do say is quite peculiar over the face customization, you can modify a lot about it, make it even asymmetrical; body wise pretty good but not exactly to the levels of dd2; jewellery/piercings and nails, can change color (also a good range of colors), or even the shape in case of the nails that is; makeup wise, prestige, highlighter and glitter is a thing and we do appreciate, the eyeshadow you can change the color by steps (from the bottom eyeliner to the top one then each section/layer of the eyeshadow), various lipstick presets as well
- bg3 i love the female muscular body type (the slight appearance of veins in the arms 👌), well face wise and body wise very limited, just extremely few presets, but then compensates in other regards, with quite an immense palette of colors to choose, be it skin or hair (although still not enough 🙃 so i got more with mods ahaha); makeup wise pretty much all of them (dd2/bg3/inzoi) got good amount-diverse options, love the metalized slider for the eyes/eyeliner/lips
- dragon age the veilguard had good options/diverse presets of makeup as well, eyeshadows with a nice shimmer effect]
- dd2 cc /dd2 cc showing range quantity
- bg3 cc
