  • My greatest concern is how the combat will turn out to be. Will it have great depth with complex mechanics or shallow rota vs rota.
Having complex mechanics does not imply depth.
Complex mechanics do create barriers for entry.

I am pretty sure steven has stated this will most likely be a niche game so barriers for entry are a given considering that fact :)

My biggest worry is that there will be silly cosmetics that shatter the atmosphere of the game.  There’s already a teddy bear mount.  This game isn’t an Asian MMO but I worry if it might turn into one.

Teddy bear mount? Haven't seen that, it sounds awful, I cant stand dumb shit and culture references in MMOS.
  • Being this early in development I really do not have any concerns as of yet. I have been around MMO's for many many years now. I know things can and will change many times over the coarse of the development. People just have to be patient and watch how it unfolds.

The teddy bear mount can fit into the game, I think IS did say that it could even be a teddy bear belonging to a mage/their child that got enchanted. If we can have meteor spells we can have magical teddy bears :3
  • The Devs have stated that you can customize your character to favor tab targeting or action targeting for your skills. Action targets have hit boxes and head shots hit for more than other shots. I fear characters will be forced to use action targeting in raids and PvP to maximize damage.

If it’s an outlier that’s okay.  If it’s a sign of things to come it’s not.

I’m only “concerned” because of the potential of a problem, I don’t see one yet.

I am concerned that the combat will be as bad as Eso if weaving and animation cancelling are a thing. I want a solid combat with nice moves and action re action based strategy, not a mindless rotation based on meta, without your enemy (tank, roque, mage, other) affecting your strategy, looking glitchy.
I am a big fan of individual skill cooldowns based on the impact of said skill

I am afraid of instanced content, Group finder. They make mmorpgs less about an adventure and more about Co-op stages that you repeat 1000 times.

I am afraid that mounts will make travels very boring.
When I first played a game with mounts I was like "awsome I am ridding with my friends to our destination!"
Now I feel bored looking at all those monsters unable to stop me, challenge me.
I dont feel hyped to enter new areas. I am not careful. I just go straight to the objective and then hop back on and adios.

I am afraid of POI indicators and detailed maps.
I much would rather an old looking map that only says there is a city here and there is a desert there, a mountain there.
These are the main roads, good luck out there.

Lastly I am afraid of ridiculous, over the top cosmetics or designs that dont belong in the setting (too modern for the supposed era)

  • I'd say combat, but the biggest thing that will get me is what kind of grinds will stand in the way between me and world PvP. Slow paced RNG gear treadmill grinds are just too much. I've dropped games because of such systems. It didn't matter if the gameplay was fun. Time consuming grinds that repeat over and over just aren't worth doing if they block the meat of the game.

If it takes less than 6 months playing 3-4hrs a day to get to end game max level content then it simply invalidates all the content below max level/end game.
You end up with crap like what tera is now vs launch 1-65 is just a piss poor tutorial, and any gear quests done in that time are forgetable. Give us a meaningful journey to max level similar to Everquest pre Planes of Power although with all the modern luxury of good pvp, memorable encounters & good gfx. Too many games support a rush to max level surving as a forgetable and pointless tutorial once you've leveled 1 character it's the death of them.
