  • I'm not sure how this can be a thing, Intrepid have proclaimed that over the years that they wanted to build a game that would fulfil the needs and expectations they themselves as gamers have experienced over the years and avoid the issues which have plagued the genre. Yet this decision goes against the experiences of anyone who has been playing MMOs given that My.com are hell to deal with from the player perspective.
  • I see that you, too, game developers do not like responding to similar topics on the forum .....

  • Bad move absolutely kill the buzz I had for the game, bad reputation follows My.com there had to of been a better choice

If I do not agree to My.com having ANY access to my personal data, is my only option to VPN to USA?

Region locking is not likely therefore, no.
  • RL ? my.com ? the one and only p2w Publisher ?
mycom says all you can earn is no P2W. Even if it takes you a year and you keep losing fights this year.

100% creative control? then my.com can do what you want with the monetization.

4This is the worst news about ashes and I doubt with this publisher more than strongly whether the promise that there should be no p2w game can be kept.

This fucking greed for money in really every game really gets on my nerves. That Ashes didn't want to be a p2w was one of the big points to bet on the game. I'll think about it again

  • This is really dissapointing. My.com/mail.ru is possibly one of the worst MMO publishers to ever exist. They do not publish anything that is not as P2W as you can possibly make a game.

This disheartens me, I was looking forward to Ashes. Bummer. Well at least we can still look forward to possibly getting a good game out of VR and Pantheon. They have not yet sold themselves to a terrible publisher.

Really disappointing Ashes that you would throw in the towel and sell out to russia greedmongers.

As an NA player, I'm selfishly disappointed by this. Because in non region locked games, we get flooded with bots and gold farmers from the East.
  • Not going to touch the game if My.com is the publisher, Not going to be burned by them again.

And there's no point to play in NA servers because of lag and time differences. That's like seeing an action movie with cam quality. So yeah, with My.Scam as the EU publisher, the NA servers will definitely be flooded by an huge ammont of bots and gold farmers. At least let our friends at NA have the best experience possible by making it region locked.
  • Well this is all excellent news!
Now all the European friends I've made here in the forums will play on the same NA servers with me! Huzzah!

All joking aside, its still early in development here and things can change.
When Conan Exiles started in Early Access, they announced a server partnership with PingPerfect.
But when that relationship didn't work out for them, they switched to a different company.
But all that being said, I hope this works out for the European community....

My brother is still waiting for his premium time in Armored Warfare that he payed for and that he lost 2 years ago due to a bug and that My.com promised to fix. When he made another ticket about it he was told off and told not to make any new tickets about it. Very disappointed with this decision.
  • If EU can be handled by such scam artists/thieves as my.com, then what confidence is there that OCE/SEA servers won't also be handed off to some dodgy publisher?

Not only does it bring in concerns of P2W and undermine any possibility of trust in the game's direction, but even if they stick to only the things they are supposed to take care of- they are incapable of those things.

Our information is not secure with that company, and their customer service is abusive not helpful.

I was so close to pledging, but now I can't. I would feel dirty.

In the last few months I did not really participate in the AoC discussions, but I feel that I need to say something to the my.com topic.
I was here from the very start, I have supported Intrepid with over 2k$ and got a few KS packages for me and my mates.
What Steven told us about the game and the plans what the game tries to be, it made me very exited. This was going to be best MMORPG by far that I wanted to play... and believe me, I had my shares of MMORPGs. It had almost everything that I have desired. I had the feeling, that I can get back to the time where I was playing Lineage2 with my buddies and everything was fun.
But this recent news about the my.com partnership made me very sad, afraid and disappointed. Sure Intrepid says that My.com had it's issues but now they try to change, and they share the vision and understanding of Intrepid. Well anyone can say that, but experience says otherwise. I really hope that Intrepid will change their minds about the publishing, because I have a feeling that if My.com stays then it will probably be a nightmare for us EU/RU players (lag, server issues, bad quality, bad customer service).
So my question to @IntrepidStudios :
Do you guys have a backup plan, when the partnership with my.com will fail? I hope you are not planning to abandon your EU players when that time comes.
  • Might as well start searching for a new mmo...

100 % agree. I put much money to the Kickstarter when the info was self publishing. Now I am so hardly frustrated.

When I buy a new car, then I go to the car seller which I trust not to the car seller with fucked up reputation.

I think IS was drunk when they made this decision.

All hope is gone for me now. Doesn´t matter what they say. Doesn´t matter what they do.
I want to support IS not a scamming, data leaking and ignorant company like my.com. If my.com will be the final publisher I will try everything to refund my Kickstarter package.

Sorry for saying that but this is a very big disappointment and it is inexplicable why such decision will be made.
  • Very sad news indeed

As for Revelation Online, it is Chinese, so it was built from the ground up for wallet warriors.
That is one fact that a lot of the people opposed to My.com seem to be missing. Living in China, I am very much aware of the role prestige plays in daily life here, as well as the role money plays in achieving said prestige. It is little wonder that a Chinese game would have a P2W system at its core. It is not like RO was created non-P2W, only to be transformed into a P2W game by My.com.

I'm not interested in defending My.com, but I am interested in informed, factual, and nuanced criticism of the publisher. So far I am only seeing hear-say and poorly informed rants.

Edit:  I do want to add that I do sympathize with the European player base. I've got my own issues with Trion over their handling of Rift and ArcheAge, and am more than aware of the epic mess that is EA. So resentment against a publisher is hardly a foreign concept for me.

I'm sure that My.com's poor reputation is well-earned, but I do not feel that the discussion is well served by ranting and raving.

I've already expressed my preference for AoC being self-published in Europe. If we can work as a community to make that happen (and let Steven know that quality is far, far, far more important than meeting a 2019 release date), then let's do so without the shrill reactions.

If that is not possible, then let's work as a community to ensure that the integrity of AoC will be well-protected from any potential predation by My.com.

Most of you love the game for the sheer potential it holds, and would love to see it prosper. So... let's calm the **** down and discuss the issue like the adults we all are.
