"Weapons and armor are not class locked, but certain classes are more efficient with certain types of weapons or armor.[57][58] Certain abilities require certain items to be equipped.[59]"
https://ashesofcreation.wiki/Weapons#Class_weapons_and_armor
You could indeed be a wand-wielding warrior, if you so chose.
"Primary skills (class abilities) are based on a player's archetype.[20] Players can personalize their primary skills with augmentation from a secondary archetype.[21][20][22]"
https://ashesofcreation.wiki/Skills
Your skills are based off your Primary Archetype, and are updated (augmented) with tweaks from your Secondary Archetype.
This link may help you: https://ashesofcreation.wiki/Weapons
I am just wondering if the secondary archetypes will actually change how your class plays (effectively changing abilities such as what use to be a nuke spell gets turned into a DOT, or one large summon gets turned into many smaller faster-attacking summons, etc), or will it just be a re-skin of your primary archetype's abilities?
I know they said augments could completely change the ability, but until we see it in action, its hard to know...
Thanks!
Knowing that Intrepid is planning ahead all of their development as well as live streams showcases and since we're nearing the end of this, my question is as follows:
Will the content of the livestream showcase of December 2022 top that of December 2021?
All classes can use all weapons, each weapon will have its skills along with its passives tree, can find more out on the community Wiki.
I have a feeling he is talking about swapping between weapons during combat. Something akin to GW2 or New World. I kinda hope you don't swap between weapons, making the choice of weapon mean more, similar to your build and other gear choices.
You've said that you see elemental magic to include light/dark/planar magic. As an Acolyte (Mage-Cleric with life-death augments) could I make a build where I strictly specialize in light/dark/planar magic where I don't have to use fire/water/elec magic? I personally see the latter as "elemental shaman" magic, and not the theme many of us are wanting to go for.
Thank you!

@Kusaijshi (question) - You can read more about what has been said regarding the leveling experience here, on the wiki! There are many facets and variables to leveling that will change up your experience

Keep in mind that with that said, the world of Verra, for all lore related intents and purposes, follows basic physics and laws of physics and is a planet that is round and is not flat. You can read more on that here, on the wiki!

@Sengarden (question) - Recipes are discovered and can be combined to create unique dishes. You can read more about it here, on the wiki!
@Castai (question) - Personal inventory limits are tied to a backpack. Material and gatherable items are subject to quantity rather than weight limits. Caravans and Mules are intended to be the primary mode of transportation of goods beyond these limits. You can read more about this here, on the wiki!
@Technoblade (question), @SashaAmbush (question) - There will be ways for players to sell goods to one another, such as Player Stalls, the Auction House and trading, for example. @Skiller (question) - These are mounts with additional mechanics / abilities associated with the amount of people that can ride them, such as weapons. In that sense, we believe they should be more rare and more difficult to obtain.
@itwashear (question) - Both Steven and the team's vision, as well as player feedback is important to us. Steven's vision is what drives development of the game. It's the backbone of our project, while player feedback is the cornerstone. Both are important and we will always consider both when making important decisions. If you ever have feedback or suggestions for us, please provide them on our forums!
@Abarat (question) - The exact percentage of advancement from obtaining items or killing monsters is not going to be explicitly known to avoid "gaming" the system. Different people have different resources invested in nodes progressing and it would be a little "gamey" if you could know exactly what was necessary at that point because that would disincentivize people from participating.
@TokenGamer (question) - We will always be open and receptive to player feedback! Our processes will become more robust as more possibilities, such as in-game feedback, become available to us!
@Kovrm (question) - Item decay is still a planned feature. You can read more about item repair here, and item decay here, on the wiki!
@Allexx (question) - Ashes of Creation will feature robust anti-cheat. We're keeping our cars somewhat close to our chest on this to avoid exploitation, but you can read more about it here, on the wiki!
@hapy (question) - It's unlikely that organized parties will be able to get all of the materials they need to craft every piece of equipment from farming open world dungeons alone. Please stay tuned for more information regarding both gathering and crafting professions as we progress further in development!

@Moonlup (question) - While costumes and gear won't be gender locked, the appearance of these may adapt to the gender and race of your character. To get an idea about our perspective on things like this, see this answer from a previous Q&A ^_^
@WuqingYe (question) - "Players receive skill points as they level. These can be used to level up skills (increase their rank) within their active, passive or combat/weapon skill trees. You can learn more about skill points here, on the wiki! There are no plans for players to use their skill points for Augments. That's a seperate system, and you can learn more about what we've shared regarding Augments here.
@Rhoklaw (question) - While the world of Verra is round, we have no plans to allow players to circumnavigate the world through sailing. Here's the answer to this question from a previous Q&A stream.
@CharlesBaham (question) - Stay tuned for more information about classes in Ashes of Creation, and different abilities available to each class.
@Hazerduhs (question) - "Primary archetype selection and race selection won't be things you're able to change after your character has been created. As for changing the apperance of your character, we'll have in-game salons/barbershops." You can learn more about what we've said on this topic on the wiki here.
@Tardagan (question) - When we talk about how quickly a player might get killed, we call this "Time-to-Kill." We're targeting around 30 seconds to a minute for this.
@Schmuky (question) - "When it comes to sieges, wars, and other in-game systems, there may be players that are less honest with their intentions. While what specific options players have to ""betray"" others may vary based on the situation they're in, we want to give players freedom to play the game how they want to play Ashes of Creation."
@FaiezRs (question) - "We plan on having game servers for Asia/Pacific for launch. To learn more about where we plan to have game servers, see the page here! Server locations for tests may be more limited. For example, in Alpha One we had players join us globally, but our server locations were in the US and Europe."
@ChaosFactor (question) - Since cosmetics can change a character's appreance, we'll have other ways to assess threats from players. You can learn more about what we've said on this topic on the wiki here!
@Immortality (question) - Personal inventory limits make moving things this may much more time consuming than using the Caravan System. To learn more about what we've said on this topic, see the wiki here!
@AndyD (question) - Our current plans are to have something closer to a unified hitbox regardless of race or character size; but this may change during testing. To learn more about what we've said regarding hitboxes, see the wiki here!
@leamese (question) - Yes, things will render in the world out of your current vision. While the quality may change between high end and low end systems, and what settings players select, it's important to us to have the game render in an effective manner, that also adds to everyone's immersion while in the game. ^_^
@Dizz (question) - To get a better understanding about why our philosophy around why DPS meters are different, see this replay from a previous Livestream with the team!
@Deepwood (question) - "Yes, Ashes of Creation will have stories and lore We'd like much of this to be a surprise for players, as they explore the world of Verra. You can learn more about what we've said about game lore on the wiki here!

@Tyrakkel (question) - Players that select Tank as their primary archetype will be the preferred in this role. The same is true with Clerics and healing.
@SparkyCJB (question) - As we get further along in development, we'll be providing more specific information regarding what specific buildings, items, etc., you can place each cosmetic on. As we have information on this topic to share, we'll certainly do so.
@Adonex (question) - The history of each server will be tracked and visible to players in a node's library. To learn more about what we've said about collecting and sharing each server's history, see the wiki here!
@juiceboxTgs (question) - Dual wielding will be permitted for one handed weapons. We have no plans at this time to allow players to dual wield great/ultra swords.
@Rangerr (question) - While it's possible that a specific server may not advance every piece of node content, we believe across multiple servers players will eventually discover game content as nodes advance in different and interesting ways, based on player decisions.
@Hatchet (question) - In regards to pledge tiers from the Kickstarter, we expect everything we shared there to be implemented and delivered to players when it's ready.
@Reitek (question) - All music we've shown thusfar has been placeholder. Ashes of Creation's Lead Composer is Bear McCreary. Bear's music won't be featured until we're further in development. In regards to specific instruments and themes that will be present across our official game music, stay tuned for us to share more once it's ready.
@Fantmx (question) - We'd like things like this to be a surprise for players, as they explore the world of Verra. You can learn more about what we've said about game lore on the wiki here!
@McKaySama (question) - Weapons and armor are not class locked, but certain classes are more efficient with certain types of weapons or armor.

@Niya (question) - The details of node atrophy may change during Alpha Two and other testing. To learn more about what we've said on this topic previously, see the wiki here! ^_^
@Kirbie (question) - Node sieges occur in the world, and will use the same collision as the rest of the world.
@Tryol (question) - The difficulty of PvE content, such as raids and dungeons will adapt based on the performance of the raid or group against previous bosses in that encounter. You can learn more about what we've said on this topic here! 😊
@SirChancelot (question) - Your skills come from your primary archetype choice. Your secondary archetype does not provide additional skills. You can read more about this here, on the wiki!
If you didn't see your name tagged in this post, there is a good chance that we would've loved to ask your question on stream, but didn't quite have enough time. Please be sure to join us next month for our next development update livestream Q&A, where you can ask you question once again! We appreciate your awesome questions very much! ^_^
@Falkath (question), @thelazypeon (question), @scema12 (question) - Congratulations! Your questions made it onto the stream and were answered by Steven! Be sure to check out the VOD on our YouTube channel if you missed it live ^_^
Thanks!
1.Will my character have multiple classes like in ff14 or each character can only level, and play as one class?
2.If there's any unlockable stuff (reputation, QoL) will it be account-wide or character specyfic?
3.Will all my alts be citizens of a node that my main lives in, or are they unaffiliated?
4.Will there be a limit on how many characters I can create per account?
I know that it has been said that active skills are only based off the primary archetype.
But some of the passive skills like max HP or mana are shared by a couple of archetypes. My question is asking about the passive skills specifically.
If I do a mage/tank. Will the damage mitigation that the tank has access to be available to the primary mage archetype?
🤔 What was your favorite part of this month’s stream?
I want to play an elf; their models should be majestic, graceful, and ethereal. When I think of playing a roleplaying game, I think of being a child playing with dolls or pretend. Fantasy game art should evoke that same sense of wonder and imagination creating a new world not imitating the real world with uncanny valley hyperrealism.
After seeing the improvement in art style with the other elf race and the concept art shift that was so promising, this was very disappointing. Steven clearly stated multiple times that the concept art and models will be one to one... please continue to improve them.
