One thing (besides P2W) that you absolutely do NOT want in AoC

  • -No dumb over the top anime combat actions like a basic attack that lights up the whole screen with dumb graphics. Remember when a critical hit was noticed by everyone and was unique and cool....I do. If every action is over the top and "amazing" the game will feel dull and people will leave.

    -No fast travel

    - Makes boss fights hard. yes ever the first boss we encounter. You want to make all the real MMORPG players happy? Make the boss fights feel like an accomplishment, something to be proud that you and your boys took it down.

    - Please for god sake make the auction house a easy to use. Good search ability, hover over data on all items. respectable sell times of 12/24/48 hours we can leave items for sale.

    - Have guild housing. Want the nerds who love to decorate houses with thousands of items to play (or stay) in your game? Knock this out of the park and your gtg. Think about all the people who continued to play WoW just to simply collect pets and mounts.

    - Dont be the same as every dam MMO and give us 10 dam bag slots then try and sell extra bag slots in the cash shop. Its a dumb/ cheep tactic to pull on your player base and people are tired of that crap.

    - Items in the cash shop should only be cosmetic and nothing to advance a character in any way. Hey here is an idea...dont have a cash shop. Charge $10 bucks a month and put out a good, evolving MMO and people will pay with a smile on their face.

    @RedTroy
There won't be an Auction House :P
There are Guild Halls one can have in a Node
There are Castles that Guilds can take over
There are Fortresses that are Guild Halls outside of the Nodes and Castles :P
They probably won't sell bagslots as that would be P2W
Sub is 15$ a month, will only contain cosmetic items, your choice whether you want to buy or not.
  • Is no auction house really confirmed and I thought the 15$ sub cost was speculation and it actually not confirmed either?

The no GLOBAL auction house has been confirmed. Economic metropolis will have the option of building a zoi wide auction house instead of just localized player run stalls. That mechanic may not make it to live however. Was just one of the benefits of a metropolis mentioned at the same time they mentioned fast travel for scientific nodes. Since we know there will be a stock market mechanic (stretch goal) there will be some form of tracking available for investing in your particular node.

$15 dollars has NEVER been confirmed, just mentioned "around that" and "comparable to other MMOs with a sub", so at the end of the day it could be 20, or 30, or even higher. But if they go much more over $20 in my opinion they start to lose more subs than the money they gain by increasing the price. They need to price it so that it isn't seen as gouging, but high enough they can cover costs with minimal cash shop. They voluntarily undercut themselves, then overcompensate on the cosmetic shop side, they are going to have the same problem with sub retention.

Really? ZOI Auction House? So how do goods get transported?
I thought they said ZOI wide Market, so thought they meant like the billboard showing what is in other nodes in ZOI.

Last official statement has tthem sayin 15$ so going by that. It's the Placeholder fact :P
  • Yeah, that's what I thought. I also heard about local marketplaces within each node/town/city. I surely won't play if I'll have to leave my character afk all day and night just to sell something.

Where would you get the assumption you have to be physically present to sell your items from a stall. ESO has a similar system where people bid weekly on vendors that stand around 24/7. They stock the vendor with what they want to sell at what price, and go on their merry way. Intrepid has no interest in fun killing activities.

Yes, the mechanic describes was that there would be a message board listing what stalls have what for sale and their location in the node. They haven't gone into too much depth like many of the systems, so basically it is just everyone taking their own individual meaning from snippets of information. Guess I missed this placeholder info that ziltch is talking about, then again, I like many here opted for the lifetime sub, so could really care less if they charge $15 or $50. Whatever gets the punters in their seats.

And then there is this post from @Belewyn from September 1st.

15$ per month has seemed to be the reference standard. No exact confirmation from Intrepid at this time.

difficulty while progressing ... to put it simple questing and killing for quests should be at level of vanila WoW where you cant survive pulling more then 2 normal mobs and you cant solo group quests or any elite ... whill current wow is made for 6yo and you can basically solo 2 levels higher group quest

Ah yea fast travel ... only i support its between those big zones from 1 big city to other ... anything els will ruin game and mmo social aspects

I agree with first part, being able to solo more than 2 mobs in early WoW was great :D

    As for fast travel.
It will not happen. (Except for in a Scientific Metro that unlocks fast travel between Nodes in its infulence)
  • Lack of diversity, I don't want to feel the same to the next elf or the next mage or whatever my class is
  • Hand holding or catering to casual players, I want this game to be difficult from beginning to end.
  • vaporware
    please...just let it be real.

  • 1.  Bots, especially one that can teleport to steal resources
    2.  DDOS attacks lagging game or shutting down servers
    3.  6+ month waits for new content
  • Salute to no 6+ month wait time for new content
  • generic MMORPJ questing

    Bots are bannable

DDOS attacks are not completely preventable

they need time to make good content so 4 months is a bare minimum unless you want it to look like the Destiny 1 House of wolves or Crota's End content (lack luster and waste of money)
  • I once played a game where programmers joined opposing guilds and it seemed they knew all about what was on the horizon and were prepared for it in advance. Made PvP a pleasure for those in the know. They were always the first to complete new dungeons as well. Bad optics. Big no for me.

    .
  • 1. If content comes every 5-6 months, content that actually lasts 5-6 months, not 1-2 at best.
    2. Active GMs. Period.
    3. No seasonal events offering crazy rewards that either inflate certain item prices or items you can only get in these events. Cosmetics are acceptable.
    4. Bots.
    5. Dungeons or Raids that test your skill based on how fast you can button mash. Make challenges actually challenging without forcing the community to develop 3rd party dps meters and things of that nature.
  • 2. Active GMs. Period
You don't want to see them?

    So...I'm an idiot. I meant inactive...whoops
  • Ahhh, that makes more sense

  • Kids. And I don't mean NPC kids, but legit players who are in or before puberty.

If they have enough monthly allowance or if they can steal their parents' credit card, why not?

I PARTIALLY have to stand up for the little ones because I myself hate squeakers but have met quite a few good players in several different games that were squeakers. If you hear one of them say "I know I'm a squeaker but please don't lump me with the rest." Try to give them a chance at least.

With that said I have to turn into a hypocrite here and say about half the squeakers I meet are annoying as fuck.

I would probably not mind a teleport skill for a Mage :) I know it made my Onyxia Quest Chain a LOT shorter xD (still took forever)
