Ashes of Creation Referral Program

We have received multiple inquires related to the referral link and GUI / Dashboard. I am consolidating those requests here for tracking purposes.

Q: Help! My referral clicked my link but I can't see it. Can you help?

  • A: Unfortunately, our current system does not allow us to track referrals beyond what you see yourself. As a result, we also do not have a way to manually fix a referral if it did not take. Please note that we know for sure that if the referral uses an ad blocker or cookie blocker on their browser, the referral will not track. We are looking into upgrading our Referral system, however we don't currently have any details on what this will change in that regard, if anything.

  • I am really interested in this referral system as it is the first of its kind and very unique. However, when I got to the 'Refer & Win!' section it comes up with a message saying "The affiliate area is available only for registered affiliates." My account should be activated, perhaps there is something I am missing?

I will give the community manager a poke :)
  • Hi Lividus, welcome to Ashes of Creation! Unfortunately we had a web downtime earlier today which affected new accounts. As a result, referrals access was not granted when new accounts were created. We will be manually fixing this in the next couple of days. For more info, please see the thread here: https://www.ashesofcreation.com/forums/topic/announcement-website-forums-registration-downtime-april-17-2017/. Our apologies for the inconvenience. We hope to get this resolved soon.
  • Thanks for the update, really clears things up! Excited to hear about new upcoming updates involving AoC :)
  • This may be a stupid question, but when I send my friend my referral link, it sends him to the home page and if he registers it doesn't show that he has referred me. Can anyone help?
  • I'm the friend in question and I deny all claims made against me. I did not kill this man... what are we talking about?
  • post your referral link in here and I'll give it a go with a new account. See whats up and if I can help!

If you could that would be a huge help

Heya Tailoy, that is correct. As long as they came in under that link, it will track the referral. There isn't a special branded page it brings you to, it'll just be the home page. The difference is at the top of the web browser, in the address bar, it will have the referral link. To double check if the referral went through, log in to the site and go to <a href="https://www.ashesofcreation.com/refer/?tab=referrals" target="_blank">https://www.ashesofcreation.com/refer/?tab=referrals</a>.
  • Ok, thanks for clearing that up for me!

Edit: It coud be an idea that when making your account, you could set your referrer there. That is if a lot of people have this problem.
  • When I open the ref link and click on the big "Register Now" button, the url changes to: https://www.ashesofcreation.com/register/, so how exactly is that tracking people who sign up for another player? I also provided a ref link to a friend at work and that friend is not showing up in my referral page. Is there a delay?

I think it uses cookies that are DLd by your friend's browser. I'm not sure
  • Ive also had this issue where ive reffered a friend and they have signed up but it hasnt come up under people ive reffered.
  • I noticed that the referral system was taking my referrals to the homepage and it didn't refer them. So I tinkered with the URL for a few and this is what I noticed https://www.ashesofcreation.com/ref/The-Anti-Akuma/ Result: Homepage URL (No Referral) https://www.ashesofcreation.com/register/ Is the Registration URL So I decided to try this: https://www.ashesofcreation.com/register/ref/The-Anti-Akuma Result: It loaded the Register Website with my Ref Code. I put this here because I haven't found a Report a bug/glitch section. And to make sure that it wasn't a fluke, I tried: https://www.ashesofcreation.com/register/asd/The-Anti-Akuma Result: It loaded a 404 Code, making me realize that I was right. Anyways, I made this thread to point out that the "REFER & WIN" site doesn't generate the correct code, but the system is working. Just need to know how to access it. "https://www.ashesofcreation.com/register/ref/The-Anti-Akuma"
  • ..... What's the point of this post again? just share the reference link with your friends
  • This is not true it generates the right link.
  • I tried your method to see what it would do, and it added me as referral to myself. O.o
  • Has anyone tried to refer someone today and it didnt work cause my friends tried to use my link and it didnt work and they said they had cookies on so idk if its just me or is the system bugged? Also i didnt know where to put this in the forums so sorry if its in the wrong place.
  • its fine i made a second account using my own referral link to check if it worked and it did so it must be an error my friends made, idk how to delete a thread tho sorry
  • So, I'll start by saying I'm not sure the best place to put this but I thought it might apply to this sub as it might affect many "Newly Arrived" players. In short, my brother and bud both signed up for the game off of my referral code. (They actually used my computer as I watched them. So I am certain this is what happened.) When I go to verify HERE it says, "You have not made any referrals yet." Now my brother and friend were both able to pick the ideal account names they wanted. I guess my question is, what do I do now? Is my only recourse to have them setup new accounts? I heard that something might have been sent to the email Spam folder but after checking neither of them have anything in there. Just not sure what my options are to "fix" this and as this has financial/cost implications I'm sure others will have similar issues/questions in the future.
  • After further research I have likely discovered <strong>why </strong>I didn't receive credit for the referrals. Apparently if you have an AdBlocker, which I would assume most people do nowadays, it doesn't work properly as it interferes with the cookies.

So the question at hand becomes, is the only solution or work around for this creating new accounts?
  • Adblocker is'nt the problem as both of my referrals used it while creating their account. What you do mention in your post is that both referrals were done on the same computer which means the same IP adress, so what i think happend is that the system does not allow referrals on the same IP adress as a counter measure for potential abusers.
  • For me work fine :)
  • Well all I was saying is that I sent the official link to a friend and he didn't get referred to me, I sent two more friends that link that I made, and they both got referred.
  • Hi there these are some of the reason's we have for the referrals not working correctly

they didn't authenticate their account - they have cookies blocked - they are using a private browser signing up to the site using the same computer might of been a issue as well as previously stated by Wishsdark
  • So is the only solution creating new accounts and trying again?
  • I signed up for an acct on this website before I learned of the referral program. Can I retroactively identify who referred me so he can get credit when I buy into the kickstarter, or do I need to make a new account with a different email address?
  • I am in the same boat. I want to get in on the kickstarter but i was a bit too trigger happy about signing up before i saw anything about referrals.
  • I emailed Intrepid yesterday. I will share here if I get a response. But I was too nervous about missing the limited KS package I had my eye on, so I went ahead and picked it up. I hope Intrepid will let me add my referrer after the fact.
